Course Course

The Griffin course was originally designed as a 9-hole, but quickly took shape with another 9-holes following almost immediately. The course is noticeable for its lack of bunkers as it benefits from a combination of tricky tight fairways and small greens, requiring accurate golf to make a score here. A person who thinks their way around can really make the most of the shorter par fours and avoiding the water is always a good play.

The 1st hole offers a great chance to start your round with a birdie. It’s a short par 5 of 485 yards. Two good shots can find the green and set up a two putt four. If you are not in range the tight entrance to the green means your four will have to come from a lay up and well placed chip.

The 2nd brings water straight into your thoughts as this par 3 is all of 112 yards carry over the lake. The 51 yard long green means taking note of the pin is vital to select the right club, and a pin at the front should not be dismissed as easy.

The 17th Wow! A great hole with lots and lots of water to look at. 140 yards of water is all you can see when eyeing up this hole. Long is better than short here so have a go.

The Phoenix course is the smaller of the two courses and offers a great introduction to golf with some easier holes as well as a test for the more complete golfer as 9 of the holes were part of the original 18. Both courses wind through tree lined areas but the Phoenix has a more open middle section to allow players a bit of freedom.

The 2nd is a great hole from the original 18 and seems to get tighter and tighter as the par 5 stretches away into the distance. The play here is straight through the oaks, with the second shot favouring the right to allow a chip onto the green.

The 13th is a tiny par 3 but do not be too confident as this shot is in between clubs and requires a deft touch to find the green. It is then down through a green edged trail before popping out onto the 14th.

The 16th is a great hole with the green protected by a full with bunker and a narrow green. The shot here is longer to avoid the sand.

Now armed with these tips it is up to you to discover the rest – play well!
